What Is A Photo Mosaic?
A photo mosaic is a form of photo collage, however they aren’t just your standard collage format. These mosaic collages are arranged in a unique way to resemble a single picture. In other terms; they are made using tens of thousands of smaller images to make up 1 large photo.
How Do You Create A Photo Mosaic?
We use digital images which gets analysed by colour and arranged in order depending on the main image’s colours. The more images we have to work with the better the results. For a standard photo mosaic we use nearly 15,000 images to create your image.
How Many Photos Can I Use And Will They All Be Shown?
The more images you use the better the results. The optimal amount for a photo mosaic is 500 but the more that are used the better the result. Unfortunately no not all the images will be used. Most of them will be but due to colour some may be unusable. You need to also consider that the photo mosaic images are square so you do have cropping on the images so not all of the image will not be used for the smaller images. The images will be used multiple times to create the main image however we try to keep a 10 tile distance between duplicate images; however sometimes due to colours this cannot be avoided.
What Finished Product Can Be Made With My Image?
Short answer is ANYTHING! Obviously with photo mosaics; the bigger the better. The bigger the print is the better it is to see the small images. You can get this mosaic image made into a canvas,printed as a wide format photo to be custom framed or block mounted, made into an acrylic print and much, much more!
How Long Does It Take To Get It Made?
That depends on the finished product you wish to receive. Standard building of the mosaic is normally at least 24 hours;however this time may vary due to different factors and time constraints. This time then must be added to the turn around time for the specific media type of the finished product, such as canvas (standard 4-5 business days) or custom framed print (1-2 weeks) etc. When you bring your images in we can go over the options and give you a better estimate on turn around times.
